AADO Tec is developing solutions for construction 3D printing technology. In collaboration with SEArch+, AADO Tec is participating in NASA's Phase 3 3D Printed Habitat Challenge. For their residency, the team is exploring 3D printing horizontal structures with automated reinforcement.
AI SpaceFactory is the skunkworks of AI., a full-service architectural design, and technology agency. Their project, MARSHA, is one of the five designs selected by NASA for the design of a 3D printed Mars habitat. Using a pellet-based 3D printing system, the team is working in the BUILD Space to print a test of a portion of the foundation and wall, while working on the robotic platform which will be transported to the on-site challenge.
3D printers are increasingly used alongside traditional manufacturing processes like machining, casting, and molding. In these hybrid-manufacturing combinations, additive manufacturing offers geometric freedom and flexibility while conventional processes offer outstanding material performance. During the residency, Form Labs will be exploring the role of 3D printing in a flexible research and prototyping environment, developing strategies for combining 3D printing with other processes, and helping other technology center users with their additive projects
SICdrone will be working in the BUILD Space to pilot small batch manufacturing processes for their industrial scale drone. SICdrone’s drones are particularly suited for construction applications in infrastructure as they utilize a tilt-rotor design to achieve high speed, precise movement even in high winds. After prototyping, the drones will be tested and verified in the BUILD Space before administering test applications including monitoring and quality control for infrastructure projects like off-shore wind.
The Powderhouse Sculpture is an outdoor, public art installation done in collaboration with Nervous Systems and Powderhouse Studios. Nervous Systems is a generative design studio that works at the intersection of science, art, and technology. Powderhouse Studios is a small, new public high school slated to open in 2019 in Sommerville, MA. At the BUILD Space, the team will prototype their first large-scale sculptural work.

Stoss Landscape Urbanism has been contracted to design, fabricate, and deliver an installation for the International Garden Festival at Le Jardins de Métis, in Grand-Métis, Quebec.
